Here are somethings I learned while looking for an apartment.

Look Everywhere

Look on every website, Facebook, craigslist, wherever you can find apartments for rent look there because you might find an apartment that isn’t on any of the other sites, or you might find brand new listings that haven't been posted to other website.

Drive around!

Seriously drive around to places you know of that don’t have a website or show up on sites. Half the time these places have rooms available you just have to call or go look at them.

Sometimes this is the best way to find an apartment closer to you if you are moving in the same relative location you lived before. Example you want to move out of your parents' house but want to stay in the same city just drive around and look at the smaller apartment buildings in the area. I looked and found several in my lower price range but wasn’t interested in any of them due to me wanting to move out of town.

Don’t Settle for Cheap!

One thing I learned is just because its cheap and on the low side of your budget don’t settle. I saw some apartment at like 800-dollar range but what most of these had in common is that they were in a crappier part of town and did not include amenities and had no washer hookups half the time not even a dishwasher.

Look for a place with the most things you need/want then take price into account. Look for a place in the middle of your budget with the most things that you need. I recommend looking for amenities included and washer and dryer in unit. Those will make life easier on you a dish washer isn't that overly needed since you can wash dishes by hand easily and quickly.

Not having a washing machine will be a lot more difficult on you because you will have to figure out times to do laundry and you will have to pay for it and that can get costly in the long run.

Save!

Make sure you save money and save enough to cover 3 to 6 months of rent.

Create a budget save a certain amount from each paycheck for rent, emergencies and living. Make sure fun is in that budget too. Not enjoying your money can lead to boredom and possible financial problems.

If you have the skills and patience I recommend saving for your entire lease. Creating a spreadsheet is also good to keep track of what you're using and spending I recommend watching videos on how to use google sheets.

Well, I hope you have found some useful tips!

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
